Software Downloads & Tips

These are files that I have found to be extremely useful. If they are freeware, then you may keep them and enjoy them. If they are shareware, please be kind to the author and pay for them. That will guarantee you updates and support.

Zip files will keep you here, but if I've linked you to the original author's home page, remember to use your back button to get back here, or bookmark this site.

  Tips

  • Before inserting a floppy into your computer, scan it for viruses, especially if it's a shared disk. Do not just scan the programs, scan every file on the disk.
  • Downloading is not the main culprit for viruses. The majority of viruses travel from shared disks or networks.
  • While it is impossible to get a virus simply by reading an email message, it is very possible to get one through an attachment.
  • Save ALL files in RTF or ASCII format! If you want to share data on a network server, and you want your computing to remain perfectly virus-free this is a good idea.  Neither file format saves macros and formatiing information, so this step will help prevent macro viruses.

  • Backup EVERYTHING!!

    Freeware
Wintune97 - a fabulous tune up kit. A must have!
Arachnaphilia - "Careware" that is absolutely free and one of the best editors to come along. Visit their site for the latest information.
Web Ferret - This is such a handy little device. You type in your keywords and it searches all the engines, listing your requests and if you hold your cursor over the url, it will give you a description of content. Double click and you're on your way. A must have!!!
