Please make sure you have your computer settings set to take advantage of the correct colors and display that the designers of sites want you to see.
This site is only best viewed at high color.
16 bit, 24 bit or 32 bit.
It will look awful if you have it set to 16 or 256 colors.
    To change the Color settings
  • Right click the desktop and click properties or
  • go to start\settings\control panel\and double click your "display icon"
  • click on the "settings" tab
  • at the color window, change the color (might be 256 by default) to 24bit (or 16 bit or 32 bit)
  • Click "apply" the screen will go black for a minute and the color change will take effect. Click "ok" if you want to keep the setting.
  • To Change the Display settings

  • Go back to the control panel and click on the display icon again.
  • Go to the "settings" tab and at the "screen area"  change your desktop settings. By default the settings may be set to 640x480.
  • It's your choice, but I would suggest if you're using a 15 inch monitor you at least change it to 800x600. You'll be much happier viewing everything. If you have a 17 monitor or larger, use 1024x768 or higher to take advantage of the sites.
  • CLick "apply" and then ok. Your screen will flicker, but when it's all said and done and you've put your icons where you want, resized the windows, you'll be much happier. The world just opened up.
  Tips
  • Before inserting a floppy into your computer, scan it for viruses, especially if it's a shared disk. Do not just scan the programs, scan every file on the disk.
  • Downloading is not the main culprit for viruses. The majority of viruses travel from shared disks or networks.
  • While it is impossible to get a virus simply by reading an email message, it is very possible to get one through an attachment.
  • Save ALL files in RTF or ASCII format! If you want to share data on a network server, and you want your computing to remain perfectly virus-free this is a good idea.  Neither file format saves macros and formatiing information, so this step will help prevent macro viruses.

  • Backup EVERYTHING!!

These are files that I have found to be extremely useful. If they are freeware, then you may keep them and enjoy them. If they are shareware, please be kind to the author and pay for them. That will guarantee you updates and support.

Zip files will keep you here, but if I've linked you to the original author's home page, remember to use your back button to get back here, or bookmark this site.

    Freeware
    • Wintune97 - a fabulous tune up kit. A must have!
